Art Red Hill Background
Over 40 years ago, parents from Red Hill Consolidated School & members of the local Peninsula art community decided to hold a fundraising art show in the school hall. 2020 marked the 40th anniversary of Art Red Hill (ARH).
It has been regarded as the premier art show on the Peninsula, showcasing artists from both the local, thriving art community and around Australia. Historically it has been held over the first weekend in May, and over the decades thousands of people have enjoyed the event and purchased hundreds of artworks across many mediums – painting, photography, printmaking, incredible sculpture, stunning glass pieces and ceramics, wearable art in the form of jewellery and textiles – the talent has been endless.
It was with much sadness the live show was first cancelled in 2020 but moving with the times, ARH moved to a virtual version and it was a great success. 2021 posed further complications and once again over the summer of 2022, when planning would normally be underway, uncertainty loomed. As a new COVID variant emerged, consequently disrupting progress on a major school building project, it was decided that a virtual show would be a fool-proof solution for 2022. Whilst nothing beats the real thing, we remain encouraged and grateful to our wider community for their ongoing support and enthusiasm. We hope to celebrate 40 years of Art Red Hill – a year or two later than planned – with a live event.
In the meantime, artists, get your submissions ready with further details coming very soon!
