Sarah Bell

Remember Me, I

Sarah Bell studied at the Victorian College of the Arts, completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1985 with a printmaking major. She has since exhibited locally at Linden New Art, Brunswick Street and Artistcare Gallery in Melbourne. She was a finalist in the 2017 Lens Mist Awards. Sarah’s recent exhibition entitled ‘Transience’ at Kingstons Arts Space, comprised large format pigment prints exploring the fragility of the natural world and referencing habitat destruction. Sarah’s art is largely experimental, exploring impressions through photo media. The movement or blur of shadows, trees or water is invitation to awaken, be present to the return of the tide or wind currents in the trees; awareness beyond the static landscape. During moments in wild places, images are captured with slow shutter techniques in both an intuitive and conscious image-making process, an evocative fusion of the artist’s background as a painter and printmaker.
