Kathryn’s wax encaustic artwork has taken her in an exciting direction, incorporating many techniques she has previously utilised in her acrylic paintings and printmaking, such as mark making, combining textures and the layering of colour and form.

She enjoys creating her very original landscapes, finding that the technique encourages her to continually experiment, allowing the process to unfold intuitively as each artwork leads her in it’s own direction. As such, she usually begins each work with only a vague awareness of how she wants it to proceed, knowing that the journey will unfold in it’s own way, whether that be in one day or many months.

Wax encaustic is a technique that continues to fascinate her with it’s serendipitous nature and lustrous colour and depth.
