Influenced by the Abstract Expressionism and Conceptualism art movements, Ryan’s works are predominantly created with an intricate depth of layered meaning. And encapsulate works formed around storylines from tribe and kinship, reflected through humanity’s own beautiful, yet fragile relationship with nature and time.

at a young age by his father (an accomplished artist), Gee Ryan, he was introduced to a diverse range of techniques and styles, along with an extraordinary understanding of colour.

Ryan attended the Brighton Bay Art, Design & Photography Program, which fostered his interest in a variety of artistic and design disciplines. And afterwards received a BA of Visual Arts from the University of Ballarat.

For the past several years, Ryan has lived in Melbourne and painted from a studio at his father’s property in Main Ridge. As of November 2018, he has lived and painted from his own home and studio in Red Hill.
