Barbara Tipper spent her formative years growing up on the Peninsula. She attended Red Hill Consolidated Primary, and Mornington High School and was known for her artistic flair even then. As an adult Barbara then lived in and visited many places as an officer (psychologist, training developer and linguist) in the Australian Defence Forces, including postings in Indonesia and Malaysia. But she has since ‘returned to country’ to the Mornington Peninsula where she revels in the flora and fauna, indigenous culture, and early settlement heritage. She creates art works in many media including pastels, acrylics, natural weave (she coined the term ‘viticraft’ for art forms recycling cane prunings from local vineyards), found objects sculpture, painted possum boxes and more. But her haut couture of art is found in her fused (or kiln-fired) glass pieces. Barbara is host and artist in residence at Taman Damai Country Retreat in Bittern.
